Before hiring agent-
Have Local/Regional following

Hire Agent first before manager

Basically "do it yourself until you can't deal with it anymore"

Agent Takes10%
Manager Takes%15
CA and NY law states that one person cant wear both hats because of conflict of interest

Have a Selling point-
Why should the club book you?
Besides talent "We are really good you know"
Visit confrences based on regionl market to network with:
Radio stations
Club Buyers
Festival Buyers
other artists

Network with other artists "buddy bands". You can swap shows in different areas.

events going on. This is different than a private party or a casual

a buyer for a club, festival or other venue is the one who books the bands

Send and follow up
have a reason to get in focus /goals on your motive
Follow up sooner rather than later

Local vs not local:
Good product
Start local

On tour: have merchendise and new cd for sale to get profit and for promotion

Festival buyers want:
Artists that atract festival goers
Compelling acts
National acts
note: They try to cycle acts (not having the same lineup every year)

Example: After four years submission to a festival they finnaly got booked

Buyers talk together:
What or who do you have coming in?
What are you payingfor those guys?
