Modular Computer Power Supply System

M C P S S - Modular Computer Power Supply System

The MCPSS takes the place of the standard ATX style internal computer power supply. For rack mount systems, this provides flexibility when specifying the rack components. The MCPSS is designed to be used as a power supply for single or multiple computers as well as an AC power tap/conditioner for auxiliary equipment including peripherals such as drive arrays, monitors etc.

By consolidating the DC switching supply and the AC power tap to a single unit, the otherwise empty case used by AC jacks is now used as a large heat sink, thus eliminating needs for additional active cooling and greatly reducing or eliminating noise. This also enables the user to free up space and reduce heat in the actual CPU chassis.

Without the large footprint of the PSU, rack mount and server machines can be reduced to as small as 14” deep by 2U, and still accommodate the standard components i.e. full size or extended ATX motherboard, 3.5in discs and optical drives. (standard rack mount servers are 20-26 in deep)

Custom computer chassis are available which allow for greater portability. Also, the design can be easily implemented into existing systems, with the advantage of reduced heat and noise.

The modular design allows flexibility when designing portable and stationary systems.

Upgrading and maintenance is also addressed by the flexibility of a modular system, by allowing add-ons such as different connector types, i.e. SATA, PCI-E etc...; front panel USB power connectors, and even installing additional DC switching supplies for peripherals.

It also is possible to use multiple MCPSS units in a single system for redundancy and power consumption requirements. MCPSS models can be designed to produce 200 up to 1200 watts; either silent or with greatly reduced noise.

Audiophile, Video, broadcasting, Home Entertainment, Pro Audio, and Recording industries all benefit from the portable, flexible and silent design. Computers are rapidly becoming increasingly important in these industries as Real-Time Processing capabilities becoming available. MCPSS models with their much lower noise, lower temperatures and portability are excellent for these systems.
